Warblade Unity is a recreation of Warblade v1.34 prepared for the browser — the classic Windows shoot-'em-up by Edgar M. Vigdal (EMV Software, 2009), itself the evolution of his Amiga classic Deluxe Galaga (1993), rebuilt faithfully from scratch so it can be played right on this page. The original can no longer be officially purchased, and its planned sequel was never finished after Edgar sadly passed away.

Everything from the original is here

Pilot the CryTech Delta Fighter Mk X against wave after wave of alien formations:

  • 100 handcrafted levels — then endless mirrored continuation beyond level 100
  • 9-weapon ladder from Single shot to the War.I.Plasma, plus homing missiles, the Alien Lock capture scoop, and Super Autofire
  • The Shop every 4th level — 21 items: weapons, lives, speed, armour, autofire, and purchasable Game Secrets
  • 37 bonus drops — coins, gems, multipliers, E-X-T-R-A letters, and the trick drops you'll learn to fear (the skull, the doubler malfunction, the mystery "?")
  • Sub-games: Memory Station tile-matching, the Meteor Storm asteroid run, Gem Drop and Super Gem Drop bonus levels, Warp Malfunction surprise levels, and boss fights
  • Rank promotions up through the planet-rank awards
  • 4 difficulties (Easy / Normal / Hard / Ace), Time Trial score attack, 2-player alternating, and the simultaneous 2-player DUAL duel mode
  • Player profiles with lifetime stats, per-profile options and key bindings, in-shop save/resume, and six 20-entry Hall of Fame tables
  • All 11 original tracker-music modules, the original sound effects, and the announcer voice packs

Playing in the browser

  • A desktop or laptop with a keyboard is required.
  • The bar under the game holds the fullscreen button, a master volume slider, and two save-backup buttons.

Your saves

  • Profiles, Hall of Fame tables, and options are stored by your browser, on your computer. They survive page reloads, browser restarts, and game updates.
  • Browser storage is not forever: clearing site data or playing in a private window can wipe it. Use the download-saves button under the game to keep a backup file, and the import button beside it to restore one.
  • Profile passwords are a game feature from 2009 and are kept as-is inside your local save data.

Controls

Rebindable in CONFIG → INPUT DEVICES; stored per profile.

  • Arrow keys — move (Up/Down steer the shop and Memory Station)
  • Left Ctrl — fire / buy in the shop
  • Left Shift — fire rockets
  • P — pause  ·  ESC — exit menu  ·  TAB — show active profile
  • Player 2: Numpad 4/6 to move, Right Ctrl fire, Right Shift rockets
  • The mouse works in the menus, the shop, and Memory Station
